CoolSculpting is a non-surgical contouring treatment that freezes stubborn fat cells under the skin, using a targeting cooling process. Once the fat cells are crystallized they will die and be naturally eliminated from the body. The procedure is safe, FDA-cleared and involves no needles, surgery or downtime. Each treatment takes about an hour, with patients resuming their activities the same day. About 92% of our patients have noticeable results in the targeted area within one treatment. Most patients can expect a 20-25% fat reduction in the targeted area, with results varying based on the size and shape of the targeted area.

Am I a candidate for CoolSculpting?

Many patients look to body sculpting for body changes related to the passage of time or after giving birth. CoolSculpting is a great option for patients who want to resolve excess fat distribution of:

  • Abdomen
  • Flank
  • Inner Thigh
  • Outer Thigh
  • Banana Roll
  • Upper Arm
  • Chin

The cryolipolysis technology used in CoolSculpting freezes the fat cells and stimulates the body to reabsorb excess tissue, restoring the natural features of the bodies shape. While you may feel that it is inevitable for you to experience changes due to aging or childbirth, CoolSculpting is a simple procedure that can make a dramatic difference in your body image and quality of life. CoolSculpting can improve the appearance of your body, as it works to reduce excess fat distribution. At Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona, our medical staff is highly experienced and equipped to deliver the procedure with beautiful results.

How does the CoolSculpting procedure work?

Coolsculpting is a noninvasive procedure that uses freezing technology. The procedure last between one and four hours, depending on the area that is treated, and utilizes a specialized suction that is placed over the body treatment area. There is no anesthetic required for the procedure and it is not painful, but some patients might experience a mild discomfort. CoolSculpting can be easily performed in our offices during a scheduled appointment. During the procedure, one of our medical staff will place the CoolSculpting suction on the body and treat all areas in sections. The suction will gently freeze the tissue and stimulate fat cell degradation. Some patients find that they need multiple sessions to have the result needed, but in some cases one treatment is all that is required to reduce excess fat distribution.

What is the recovery like?

Because CoolSculpting is not a surgical procedure and it does not involve any anesthesia, there is no downtime. This is what sets CoolSculpting apart from other more invasive body sculpting options. Patients can resume daily activities directly upon completion of the procedure, without interruption or the need to rest and recover. CoolSculpting addresses many of the same problems as surgical procedures for body sculpting, with fewer potential downsides. Patients report being incredibly pleased with the results of Coolsculpting and find that they see dramatic differences in their body without having to undergo a painful procedure.

What kind of results can I expect?

Within three to four weeks after your CoolSculpting procedure, you will notice initial results in fat reduction and increased tightness. In the following weeks, you will continue to see positive changes to your body tissue. Coolsculpting stimulates fat inflammation and breakdown, which your body will begin to eliminate immediately following the procedure. Once this process has finished, you should be able to experience the full benefits of CoolSculpting. The results of CoolSculpting commonly last for six to nine years. If you would like to maintain the results of your CoolSculpting, you can schedule follow-up treatments as needed. CoolSculpting is performed in each office.
