CoolSculpting
Why should I consider CoolSculpting?

We are firm believers that confidence leads to a more fulfilling lifestyle and being comfortable with your body can be the gateway to just that. Before CoolSculpting, the fear of downtime and complications was a shared worry amongst those who considered improving their body confidence through plastic surgery. The creators behind CoolSculpting saw these concerns and used advanced technology to create a treatment that would change the lives of others without surgery or downtime. Because of this procedure, it’s now possible to take charge of your confidence with a non-invasive, fat-reducing, confidence-boosting treatment.

Stubborn fat is sometimes impossible to remove, even with regular exercise and a healthy diet so why live with something you’re unhappy about? CoolSculpting has revolutionized the way to remove this stubborn fat by freezing it away in painless, quick sessions and lasting results.

How does it work?

CoolSculpting works with the use of a specialized suction device that is placed on the targeted fat tissue. This suction cools down the fat tissue and freezes the cells in the targeted area. Once the individual fat cells are frozen, they will begin to die. Your liver will then process these dead cells and get rid of them during the weeks after a procedure.

How many treatments will I need?

The total amount of treatment depends on the targeted area, patient goals, and the patient. After one treatment, about 92% of our patients have experienced noticeable results in the targeted area.

CoolSculpting is not meant for the extreme removal of fat from any portion of the body. If extremely overweight, a patient may be recommended for a different procedure. Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona provides complimentary cosmetic consultations. One of our professionals will be able to better answer this question and determine if CoolSculpting is right for you.

What is the recovery time?

There is little to no downtime after undergoing a CoolSculpting session. You can expect some tenderness, bruising, and inflammation on and around the treated area but this is expected to be gone within a few weeks. Most patients are able to go right back to work or their daily routines with low levels of discomfort, depending on the area treated. Our providers will be able to better predict what your individual recovery time looks like based on your individual circumstances.

How is CoolSculpting different from Liposuction?

While CoolSculpting and Liposuction are both methods to remove unwanted fat, the process to achieve that goal is very different. Unlike CoolSculpting, Liposuction requires a minimum of a local anesthetic. You could have the need for general anesthesia, depending on where you are getting fat removed. Liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure so the incisions are generally less than a quarter of an inch. If you received general anesthesia, you can expect to stay at the hospital overnight. If your procedure only involved local anesthesia, you will most likely get to go home on the same day as the procedure. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled for the removal of stitches and slight swelling and/or bruising is common. Most patients are able to return to most activities within a few days because of the minimally invasive nature of this procedure. It typically takes up to four weeks for inflammation to be completely gone and for the results to be visible.

CoolSculpting is a noninvasive procedure, no anesthetic, incision, stitches or overnight hospital stays are needed. Most patients only experience discomfort at the very beginning of the procedure. This pain is quickly alleviated once the area is cold and numb. Similar to Liposuction, results are not seen right away and usually take at least a few weeks for all swelling and bruising to disappear. The area that was treated may feel tender for a few weeks but there is no serious downtime with this procedure.
