Cosmetic rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a procedure that reshapes or resizes your nose to improve overall facial appearance and/or to help your breathing capabilities. Whether you’re interested in balancing facial proportions or correcting a deviated septum, the surgeons at Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona are here to make you feel more comfortable and confident in your own skin.

The Benefits of Rhinoplasty

When deciding to get any plastic surgery done, even if it is to improve your health, it is best to know the pros and cons to any procedure. The surgeons at Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona will discuss rhinoplasty in detail and answer any questions you may have before the surgery. Cosmetic rhinoplasty can remove bumps or indentations on the nose, reduce the size of the nose, thereby improving facial balance, and restoring or improving confidence. If surgery includes correcting a deviated septum, improved breathing may also result.

At Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona, a consultation with one of our surgeons will be scheduled with you before the surgery to discuss all the potential benefits and risks. Our surgeons have the skills and expertise to give you the results you deserve. We will be with you from beginning to end, assuring that you are satisfied with the procedure and are healing properly following surgery.

Cost

The total cost of a rhinoplasty procedure will be the combination of the surgeon’s fee, the facility fee for the surgery center, and the anesthesia fee. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, depending on if you’re getting rhinoplasty to improve your breathing, your health insurance may be able to cover the costs. However, since the majority of these are cosmetic in nature, the patient is responsible for the entire amount as health insurance companies do not cover cosmetic surgeries. In some cases, the surgery performed is for both cosmetic and breathing purposes, in which a portion of the procedure, the septoplasty, may be covered by insurance, while the cosmetic portion would be paid for by the patient.

To help with the cost of cosmetic surgery, Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona participates with Care Credit, a financing company that can provide loans to help cover the cost of the cosmetic rhinoplasty procedure. Loans that are interest-free for up to twelve months are available through Care Credit for qualifying applicants.

Preparation, Procedure, and Recovery

When preparing for rhinoplasty surgery, there are some things you may need to do, such as pre-op testing, adjust or change your prescriptions, quit smoking, and avoid certain medications such as aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements, as these can pose higher risks of increased bleeding during and after surgery.

The rhinoplasty surgery will be done as an outpatient procedure at Northern Arizona SurgiCenter, which is our fully-licensed, Medicare-certified, and AAAHC-accredited ambulatory surgery center located in the lower level of our building in Flagstaff.

To keep you comfortable during the surgery, you will receive either intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. During your consultation, our surgeons will discuss the possible procedures that will take place, depending on whether you’re receiving cosmetic or breathing rhinoplasty surgery or both. Recovering from surgery, you will experience swelling and bruising that may last 1-2 weeks. You may have to wear an external nasal splint that is typically worn for one week following surgery. Any sutures that were used to close incisions are usually removed around 7-10 days after surgery.

Summary

Are you ready to breathe better and be happier with your overall appearance? Rhinoplasty, performed by one of our board-certified plastic surgeons, may be just what you need. The first step is to schedule a complimentary rhinoplasty consultation with one of our surgeons. In the consultation, the doctor will describe the possible procedures, inform you of your options, and answer your questions. You will see rapid results from reshaping or resizing your nose, but if correcting breathing airways, you will see more gradual changes over time as swelling diminishes and your nose and face align to a long-lasting outcome.
