Last month marked the 25th anniversary of the opening of the Northern Arizona SurgiCenter (NASC). How the SurgiCenter Began
NASC opened in March of 1996 as the first free-standing, state-of-the-art, multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in the Flagstaff area. Two years before the SurgiCenter’s opening, its founders, Stephen F. Lex, M.D. and Jack Quigley, M.D. of PSNA, saw a need to offer their surgical patients improved comfort, convenience, confidentiality, and lower cost than other surgical facilities in the area could provide. To address these needs, they began plans to construct a new building to house Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona (PSNA), and an ASC, all under one roof.
NASC is licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services, certified by Medicare, which is the highest standard in the industry, and for your safety, accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). NASC is staffed by an exceptional group of registered nurses and other health professionals who have an outstanding reputation within the medical community for providing safety, comfort, and compassionate care. NASC is very fortunate to have such a highly trained, experienced, and caring staff of professionals who are dedicated to giving the best possible care to their patients. Most of the staff have been working at the facility for more than ten years, so there is not only the experience and knowledge of the staff but also the cohesiveness and familiarity with work processes and procedures that lead to a highly efficient, harmonious team.
What the SurgiCenter has to offer
In addition to plastic surgery, both cosmetic and reconstructive, NASC has provided surgical care for patients in a wide variety of other specialties. These include pain management, orthopedics, podiatry, general surgery, and ENT. NASC anesthesia providers deliver excellent care, with patient safety and comfort always being the foremost concerns. Great consideration is given to all patients, not only to assure safety but also to see that each patient’s experience at NASC is as pleasant as possible. From the moment a patient arrives, staff efforts are focused on the patient experience, with streamlined procedures and one-on-one nursing, to ensure that the patient care provided is second to none. This bold venture to build their own new facility was completed in 1996. Since then, PSNA and NASC have thrived, providing outstanding care to thousands of patients over the years.
