History
Stephen Lex, M.D., and Jack Quigley, M.D., founded Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona in 1991 after meeting during their general surgery residencies at Case Western Reserve Care System in Ohio. Their shared passion for plastic and reconstructive surgery and active lifestyle forged a partnership that has defined the practice for decades. Both are board-certified surgeons with extensive experience in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures and a tradition of surgical excellence. They remain deeply connected to the outdoor community and continue their annual “Alpine Loop” mountain bike tradition through Colorado’s high country. In 2025, Dr. Lex retired from the practice.
Adam Boettcher, M.D., joined PSNA in 2012 and has established a strong reputation for technical skill across the full spectrum of plastic, reconstructive, and hand surgery. He trained in the competitive combined plastic surgery program at Michigan State University, consistently rated among the top clinical residency programs in the nation, and is board-certified, reflecting his commitment to the highest standards of surgical care.
Brian Cripe, M.D., joined PSNA in 2022 after completing his integrated plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at Virginia Tech Carilion. He is a board-certified surgeon with expertise in cosmetic procedures, complex reconstructive surgery, limb salvage, peripheral nerve microsurgery, and hand surgery. Over the course of his career, he has performed thousands of surgical cases, authored scientific articles and textbook chapters, and presented his research at national plastic surgery conferences, underscoring his academic contributions and clinical leadership in the field. Dr. Cripe also co-founded and serves as the Chief Technology Officer of a medical device startup, Ateleva.
Andrzej Burkat, M.D., joined PSNA in August 2024 after completing the rigorous six-year plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at Virginia Tech Carilion. A board-eligible surgeon with a strong record of research and presentations on advanced reconstructive techniques, including nerve repair and eyelid surgery, Dr. Burkat brings a combination of academic rigor and hands-on surgical experience to his practice. His early career includes published work in peer-reviewed journals and contributions to surgical textbooks.
