ABDOMINOPLASTY (Tummy Tuck)

Abdominoplasty, better known as a tummy tuck, is a way to tighten the abdominal muscles and remove excess, saggy skin. Often following pregnancy or substantial weight loss, one may find they can’t quite loss the extra fat or skin in the abdominal area. Abdominoplasty, the surgical removal or extra fat and skin, may be the answer. In many cases, abdominoplasty may be combined with other procedures, such as liposuction, if needed. Patients are usually able to return to work one week after surgery, with normal a return to normal activities by three to four weeks. Abdominoplasty surgery is performed at Northern Arizona SurgiCenter, our privately owned, fully licensed, certified, and AAAHC-accredited ambulatory surgery center located in the lower level of the Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona building in Flagstaff. Post surgery, most patients will spend one night at the Summit Center in Flagstaff for recovery care, and will need to wear a velcro abdominal binder for about three weeks. Full recovery takes approximately six weeks, but most patients are driving by the end of week one. BRACHIOPLASTY (ARM TIGHTENING)

Brachioplasty involves removal of the extra fat and saggy skin that may hang off the back of the arm to create a “chicken” or “bat” wing appearance. Brachioplasty, or “arm lift surgery”, is a procedure to remove the excess skin and fat that occurs between the elbow and the underarm. The result is a more toned, proportionate and contoured arm with smoother skin and more muscle detail. Brachioplasty surgery is performed at Northern Arizona SurgiCenter, our fully licensed and AAAHC-accredited ambulatory surgery center located in the lower level of the Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona building in Flagstaff. MEDIAL THIGH LIFT

Many times as we age, the thighs may accumulate extra fat and nearby skin can begins to sag. This may lead to skin irritation and infection as the thighs rub together, and may impact the ability to participate in normal activities. In addition, this can negatively impact one’s self-esteem. The extra fat and excess skin can often be addressed with a medial thigh lift. In this surgical procedure, the extra fat and skin is removed to leave smaller, tither thighs without wrinkles or “sagginess”. Swelling and bruising typically resolves within a week, and patients often return to normal activity by three weeks. Medal thigh lift procedures are performed at Northern Arizona SurgiCenter, our fully licensed and AAAHC-accredited ambulatory surgery center located in the lower level of the Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona building in Flagstaff. “BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT”

Brazilian butt lift is fat injections into the buttocks – Fat grafting is a technique that uses your body’s own extra fat to fill in areas that you may feel are deficient. This often entails removing fat from your abdominal, flank or thigh areas and placing it in the superficial buttocks. Fat grafting may also be performed at Northern Arizona SurgiCenter, our fully licensed and AAAHC-accredited ambulatory surgery center located in the lower level of the Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona building in Flagstaff.

LABIAPLASTY

Both pregnancy and aging can lead to an unsightly, and uncomfortable extension of the inner vaginal lips past the outer lips. This often results in irritation during everyday activities, difficulty finding undergarments, and painful intercourse. Labiaplasty is a procedure that re-shapes, and reduces the size of the labia with minimal scarring. Not only will your vagina look young again, but you will find physical activity to be much more comfortable. Labiaplasty is performed at Northern Arizona SurgiCenter, our privately owned, fully licensed, certified, and AAAHC-accredited ambulatory surgery center located in the lower level of the Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona building in Flagstaff. To learn more about labiaplasty surgery at Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona, contact us today at (928) 774-2300 or (800) 962-1390 to schedule a complimentary Labiaplasty surgery consultation at any of our eight Northern Arizona locations.

LIPOSUCTION

Liposuction is the suction removal of fat from areas of the body that are resistant to diet and exercise. It is not a weight loss technique, and is best suited to patients of normal weight with resistant pockets of fat that are out of proportion to the rest of their figure. The risks of liposuction are minimal, and though post recovery healing varies greatly by patient, you can expect some swelling and bruising in the first 48 hours. You will likely be required to wear a support garment over the treated area, and bending over, straining and lifting should be avoided for the first few days post surgery. In general, you can expect to return to most normal activities within 10 days. Liposuction is performed as an out patient procedure or at Northern Arizona SurgiCenter, our fully licensed and AAAHC-accredited ambulatory surgery center located in the lower level of the Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona building in Flagstaff. MOMMY MAKEOVER

A “Mommy Makeover” addresses the breasts and abdomen, two areas many women feel are negatively impacted by birth and subsequent breast feeding. The “saggy”, “deflated” breast may be lifted or augmented to restore firmness and volume. The abdominal muscles may be tightened and extra skin removed. The appropriate procedure, as well as respective post-operative course, depends upon the patient’s need and this will be thoroughly discussed at the time of consultation. Mommy Makeover procedures are performed at Northern Arizona SurgiCenter, our fully licensed and AAAHC-accredited ambulatory surgery center located in the lower level of the Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona building in Flagstaff. BODY CONTOURING

(Massive Weight Loss / Post Bariatric Contouring) Following successful weight loss, many people find that they suffer from large amounts of excess skin. This extra, “deflated” skin may lead to skin infections, may complicate the ability to participate in daily activities and can negatively impact self-esteem. In general, the abdomen, arms, and thighs are most affected, and these areas may be best addressed by a circumferential body lift, buttocks lift, arm or thigh lift. The appropriate procedure, as well as respective post-operative course, depends upon the patient’s need and this will be thoroughly discussed at the time of consultation. Body contouring procedures are performed at Northern Arizona SurgiCenter, our fully licensed and AAAHC-accredited ambulatory surgery center located in the lower level of the Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona building in Flagstaff. CoolSculpting is a non-surgical contouring treatment that freezes stubborn fat cells under the skin, using a targeting cooling process. Once the fat cells are crystallized they will die and be naturally eliminated from the body.

The procedure is safe, FDA-cleared and involves no needles, surgery or downtime. Each treatment takes about an hour, with patients resuming their activities the same day. About 92% of our patients have noticeable results in the targeted area within one treatment. Most patients can expect a 20-25% fat reduction in the targeted area, with results varying based on the size and shape of the targeted area.

Am I a candidate for CoolSculpting?

Many patients look to body sculpting for body changes related to the passage of time or after giving birth. CoolSculpting is a great option for patients who want to resolve excess fat distribution of:

• Abdomen
• Flank
• Inner Thigh
• Outer Thigh
• Banana Roll
• Upper Arm
• Chin

The cryolipolysis technology used in CoolSculpting freezes the fat cells and stimulates the body to reabsorb excess tissue, restoring the natural features of the bodies shape. While you may feel that it is inevitable for you to experience changes due to aging or childbirth, CoolSculpting is a simple procedure that can make a dramatic difference in your body image and quality of life.
CoolSculpting can improve the appearance of your body, as it works to reduce excess fat distribution. At Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona, our medical staff is highly experienced and equipped to deliver the procedure with beautiful results.

How does the CoolSculpting procedure work?

Coolsculpting is a noninvasive procedure that uses freezing technology. The procedure last between one and four hours, depending on the area that is treated, and utilizes a specialized suction that is placed over the body treatment area. There is no anesthetic required for the procedure and it is not painful, but some patients might experience a mild discomfort.

CoolSculpting can be easily performed in our offices during a scheduled appointment. During the procedure, one of our medical staff will place the CoolSculpting suction on the body and treat all areas in sections. The suction will gently freeze the tissue and stimulate fat cell degradation.

Some patients find that they need multiple sessions to have the result needed, but in some cases one treatment is all that is required to reduce excess fat distribution.

What is the recovery like?

Because CoolSculpting is not a surgical procedure and it does not involve any anesthesia, there is no downtime. This is what sets CoolSculpting apart from other more invasive body sculpting options. Patients can resume daily activities directly upon completion of the procedure, without interruption or the need to rest and recover.

CoolSculpting addresses many of the same problems as surgical procedures for body sculpting, with fewer potential downsides. Patients report being incredibly pleased with the results of Coolsculpting and find that they see dramatic differences in their body without having to undergo a painful procedure.

What kind of results can I expect?

Within three to four weeks after your CoolSculpting procedure, you will notice initial results in fat reduction and increased tightness. In the following weeks, you will continue to see positive changes to your body tissue. Coolsculpting stimulates fat inflammation and breakdown, which your body will begin to eliminate immediately following the procedure. Once this process has finished, you should be able to experience the full benefits of CoolSculpting.

The results of CoolSculpting commonly last for six to nine years. If you would like to maintain the results of your CoolSculpting, you can schedule follow-up treatments as needed.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Laser hair removal is a medical procedure to remove unwanted hair from the face, legs, back, arms, underarms, and bikini area by treating the area with a beam of highly concentrated laser light. The intense heat of the laser penetrates and damages the individual hair follicles, hindering further growth. Since many women develop rashes when they shave, and are tired of having to get waxed every month, laser hair removal has become one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the United States. Fast and precise, laser hair removal is also effective. In national surveys, ninety percent of patients reported permanent hair loss after three to five treatments.

At Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona, laser hair removal treatments are performed by either our surgeons or our two licensed aestheticians, both of whom have many years of laser experience and are certified by the State of Arizona as Laser Technicians.

LASER SKIN TREATMENTS

With time, our skin begins to show signs of exposure to the elements. Sun, wind, and dry air are the biggest offenders, but the passing years are also to blame. As we age, our skin loses collagen resulting in sagging skin, lines, and wrinkles. It is inevitable. But there is hope. Laser skin resurfacing allows us to reverse the ravages of time by removing the most damaged areas of the skin without sedation.

Effective for treating dark spots, uneven skin tone, dull skin, fine lines, and wrinkles, laser skin resurfacing is a non-surgical procedure that can be performed as a stand alone intervention or in conjunction with facial plastic surgery procedures such as a facelift, cosmetic eyelid surgery or neck lift. Capable of smoothing out the fine lines and wrinkles of the eyes and mouth, softening deep laugh and frown creases, and minimizing acne and surgical scars, laser skin resurfacing is ideal for men or women of all ages.

At Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona, our highly skilled surgeons currently offer laser skin resurfacing using the Sharplan SilkTouch CO2 laser. Laser skin resurfacing is a wonderful way for patients to freshen the appearance of their skin without surgery. It works by stripping off the outer layer of your skin to reveal the new skin underneath while also stimulating a renewal of your skin’s own collagen. The result is radiant, full, smooth skin, and a younger looking you.

SPIDER VEIN TREATMENT

Spider veins are small clusters of unsightly red, blue or purple veins that appear on the thighs, calves and ankles of women, often causing them to avoid showing their legs. A common cosmetic concern, it is estimated that nearly half of the female population, as well as many men, suffer from spider veins.

A number of factors contribute to the development of spider veins including heredity, pregnancy, hormonal shifts, weight gain, and prolonged sitting or standing. Luckily, spider veins are easily treatable with sclerotherapy, an injection of sclerosing solution into the veins, which causes them to collapse and become less visible.

At Plastic Surgeons of Northern Arizona, sclerotherapy is performed as an outpatient procedure in our offices, and treatment takes anywhere from between fifteen to forty-five minutes. There is little to no down time, and patients can usually resume their normal activities immediately following treatment.
